In January, The Equine Connection is launching a new program – an equine-assisted learning program addressing vicarious trauma. Many people who work in the social services sector are exposed to trauma stories, and images, as well as often sitting directly in trauma with their clients. Paramedics are a good example of a professional group whose work involves continual exposure to trauma. These people are serving our community and contributing to the creation of safety in our lives. In an effort to acknowledge the enormity of the work, we would like to offer a partially subsidized (by the Healing through Horses program) ten-week program (two hours a week) to anyone interested in gaining skills to manage the impact of trauma energy on their own souls. This first group has six spots available and will be facilitated by Wendy Elrick and Kjara Brecknell.
