This summer two new horses arrived at The Equine Connection: Amiga and Pi. Amiga is a 17 year old paint mare. Pi is her first baby, a baby girl! The pair have been heartily welcomed by the herd. Landor insisted on immediate bonding. He followed Amiga around the pasture until she relented. I guess she decided he was not a threat to her baby. Landor has embraced the role of father. He is not only a loving companion for Amiga, but has already taught Pi how to massage, Landor’s favourite activity! It is quite the picture to see this very tall horse sharing his hay with a foal. Amiga and Pi have already started working as teachers and healers during our equine-assisted learning sessions. Amiga is incredibly generous. She calmly shares Pi with the other horses and with people. She is a born teacher, who has already, in the short time she has been here, supported many people in their healing journeys. Pi has formed a lovely relationship with Sadie, our resident mule. I often see Sadie and Pi hanging out. I am sure Pi is enjoying Sadie’s peaceful energy. It is a wonderful feeling to have a baby as part of our mostly geriatric herd!
